OmniRide Offers Free Service to Metro for July 4 Celebrations
- Jun 22, 2026
OmniRide will offer free round-trip bus service to the Pentagon Metrorail on July 4, providing residents and visitors a convenient, safe, and stress-free way to enjoy Independence Day celebrations and fireworks in Washington, D.C. In honor of America’s 250th anniversary and as part of our ongoing commitment to serving the community, OmniRide is launching this special service to help riders avoid traffic congestion and parking challenges associated with one of the region’s busiest travel days.
This inaugural service will operate from two locations: Stonebridge Garage in Woodbridge and the University Lot in Gainesville. Buses will transport riders to the Pentagon Metrorail Station between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., providing access to destinations throughout the Washington metropolitan area via Metro. Following the evening’s festivities, OmniRide buses will begin return service from the Pentagon at 9:30 p.m. and will continue operating until all registered passengers have returned safely to their departure location.
“This is OmniRide’s way of saying thank you to our community,” said Bob Schneider, Executive Director of OmniRide. “One of the great things about celebrating the Fourth of July in Washington is the variety of places to enjoy the fireworks. By connecting riders to Metro, we can help them reach their favorite viewing locations, enjoy the celebration, and return home safely. The Eventbrite registration helps us plan for anticipated demand.”
Advance registration through Eventbrite is required to board the bus. Riders may reserve up to four tickets per person. Tickets will not be available at the departure locations on July 4.
