HELP CREATE THE SUPER NOVA VISION PLAN

Posted 05/03/2012

The public is invited to participate in a second set of public meetings in May regarding the Super NoVa Transit/Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Vision Plan.

The plan is being coordinated by the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT).  When complete, the plan will outline a regionally coordinated and comprehensive vision for transit and transit demand management (TDM) strategies that will support increased mobility and greater transportation choices.  The plan will address transit and TDM strategies in a region that extends from Washington D.C., to Northern Virginia, Maryland and West Virginia.

Based on public and stakeholder input from meetings held in February 2012, DRPT has extensively studied existing and future regional travel demand, land use, population, and employment information.  The team also has identified gaps in existing services and mobility programs as well as has identified areas of potential need.

The upcoming public meetings will give citizens the opportunity to review the results of the land use and transportation analysis as well as review a summary of future regional transit and TDM needs.

Citizens are encouraged to learn more about the study by attending one of the May meetings or visiting the study website at www.SuperNoVaTransitVision.com. Written comments also may be sent to: Attn: Super NoVa Transit/TDM Vision Plan, 11400 Commerce Park Drive, Suite 400, Reston, VA 20191. Comments must be received by June 8, 2012 to be included in the official record. The Super NoVa study scheduled to be completed by fall 2012.
